Miguel Angel Jiménez will bid to reclaim the Wales Open trophy he won in 2005 when the Spaniard plays at this year's tournament.

Jiménez goes head-to-head with fellow Ryder Cup stars Colin Montgomerie, Robert Karlsson, Thomas Bjorn and Paul McGinley at Celtic Manor next month.

Jiménez, the reigning PGA Championship champion, will make his forth appearance at the £1.8m event.

US Ryder Cup skipper Corey Pavin will take on Europe's leader Montgomerie.

The pair will challenge for the 10th Wales Open title on the Celtic Manor's Twenty Ten course before it hosts next year's Ryder Cup.

Jiménez has won 15 European crowns and has starred in three Ryder Cups and the world number 34 hopes to be in Montgomerie's European squad for next year's showpiece.

Celtic Manor Resort Chief Executive Dylan Matthews said: "We are delighted that Miguel Angel Jiménez will be playing once again in The Celtic Manor Wales Open.

"He was a fantastic champion in 2005 and is always a tremendous draw for our galleries. With his big cigars and his even broader smile, Miguel is one of the game's true characters as well as a very talented golfer."

The Wales Open starts on 4 June.
