Gareth Maybin began the final round just two shots behind Daniel Vancsik |
Gareth Maybin finished the Italian Open in tied eighth after a disappointing one-over-par 72 in Turin on Sunday. The Ballyclare player, who started the day in joint third, had two birdies on the front nine but bogeys at 10, 15 and 16 left him on eight under. Derryman Michael McGeady ended on six under after a 71, Gary Murphy carded a 69 for three under and Jonathan Caldwell was three over after a 73. Argentina's Daniel Vancsik won by six shots on 17 under. Maybin led the tournament by three strokes at the end of the first round after firing a course-record 64.
