Palmer has advised America's players to prepare well for the 2010 Ryder Cup |
Ryder Cup legend Arnold Palmer has warned America's stars to prepare for potential wild Welsh weather at the 2010 event at Celtic Manor. Palmer was greeted by strong winds as he opened the Newport venue's Wales' national centre of golf excellence. He said: "They're going to have a very tough battle on their hands when they come here to play. "They had better be working on their game and be very aware of the conditions." He added: "If they don't there's a good chance that they could be defeated, right here." | If the opportunity presents itself for them to have a look at the golf course it would certainly help them |
Palmer also advised America's players to take any opportunity they can to gain first-hand experience at the course ahead of the event in October 2010. He said: "If the opportunity presents itself for them to have a look at the golf course it would certainly help them." Palmer, 79, a six-time Ryder cup player, was presented with a lifetime achievement achievement award at a business forum at Celtic Manor. He was joined at Tuesday's event by Wales' former Ryder Cup golfer Brian Huggett. Palmer added: "This is a fantastic facility and one that I think will provide a great venue for the Ryder Cup."
