Augusta - 9-12 April, 2009
Charismatic Argentinian Angel Cabrera has good reason to smile as he starts the final round at Augusta in a tie for the lead with Kenny Perry
Northern Ireland teenager Rory McIlroy sees his last round start with two bogeys and a double bogey, but he recovers with birdies on six of his last 10 holes to finish tied for 20th
Reigning Open and PGA champion Padraig Harrington's round falls apart around the turn as he finished with a third successive 73 to be one over, ties for 35th
Also off the pace is defending Masters champion Trevor Immelman, though his final round of 69 moves him up to a respectable 20th-place finish
Close rivals Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods tee off their personal battle both on four-under par, though left-hander Mickelson makes five birdies - to Woods' one - on the first seven holes to threaten the leaders
By the turn the pair, six green jackets between them, are making serious challenges - Woods eagling the eighth while Mickelson equals the course record of 30 shots for the first nine
Shingo Katayama of Japan, ever-resplendent in straw Stetson, finishes strongly for a 68 which gives him fourth place overall
The middle part of Cabrera's round is a tricky period, as the Argentine makes three bogeys to drop back to nine under, apparently falling out of contention
It's all change again as Campbell drops two shots off the lead only to get back to 11-under and Mickelson hits Rae's Creek at 12 but claws back to 10-under, where Woods joins him before a bogey at 17
Despite the heroic shots and birdie charges from those around him, Perry quietly picks up shots on 12 and 15 - and a bogey-free run continues as he goes to 14-under with a third birdie at the 16th
Meanwhile young American John Merrick hits the round of the day, 66, on his first Masters tournament, guaranteeing a return next year by finishing in the top 16 overall
Cabrera chips away at Perry's lead with birdies at 13, 15 and 16, keeping the pressure on his playing partner Perry as the pair fight out a tense finish
South Africa's Rory Sabbatini cards a 76 featuring seven bogeys before recovering a single shot, and finishes two-under overall, joint-20th on the leaderboard
Jim Furyk, very much a contender at the start of the day following rounds of 66, 74 and 68, cards a disappointing 73 to drop into a tie for 10th
Perry's nerve finally weakens with bogeys on both the 17th and 18th holes - and the 2009 Masters boils down to a three-way play-off between him, Campbell and Cabrera
Despite hitting the best tee shot of the three players, Campbell, as with Perry, must play his third stroke from the bunker, but the Texan misses his putt and departs on the first hole of the play-off
Perry gets out of trouble on the first play-off hole with a chip that rolls within a foot of the flag, but his second at the second extra hole is well left of the green
Cabrera, looking out of the play-off on the first extra hole in the trees to the right, takes advantage of Campbell and Perry's mishaps - two play-off pars are enough to secure the title
Perry's crestfallen caddy is Fred Sanders, Cabrera's elated bag-man Ruben Yorio - between them the main man gives his trademark punch to the galleries
Despite seeing an Argentine beat two Americans in the play-off, the Augusta crowd is fully appreciative of Cabrera's efforts on an exhausting day for players and observers alike
As darkness descends at Augusta, last year's winner Immelman presents Cabrera with the traditional green jacket - the next major is the US Open at Bethpage, New York in June
