Davis has only had one top 10 finish on the PGA Tour this year |
Brian Davis shot a round of 66 to move into contention after round two of the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois. The Briton's performance took him to nine under for the tournament and into an unaccompanied sixth place. American Will MacKenzie surged into a two-shot lead thanks to a seven-under par 64 at the TPC Deere Run. Compatriot Kenny Perry, currently on a hot run of form, added a 66 to his opening 65 to share second with South Korea's Charlie Wi and Eric Axley. MacKenzie has endured a wretched year, missing the cut in eight of 12 events and breaking 70 just six times ahead of this event. However, he built upon the momentum from his opening-round 65 by matching the best score of the tournament. Perry, 47, signed for his 10th consecutive round in the 60s. In his last six events, he has had two wins, a play-off loss and a tie for sixth place.
