Padraig Harrington is happy with his game ahead of the US Open
Padraig Harrington is desperate to add to his major haul in this week's US Open at Torrey Pines.
The Irishman broke his duck at the Open last summer after edging Sergio Garcia in a play-off and he hopes that experience will pay off in San Diego.
"Having won one, you want to go out there and win more," he said.
"My concentration is getting better, my thinking on the golf course, my sharpness, all those things have been improving - I feel ready to play."
The same tried and trusted recipe that yields success at most US Opens will apply this week.
Players must hit fairways to avoid hellish rough and hit the right spot on the slippery greens even to entertain the thought of making birdies.
Every player in San Diego this week knows that but not everyone there has the experience of winning a major to draw on.
"It also gives you the confidence that if you get into that situation, you believe you can do it again," added the Dubliner.
Last year's Carnoustie win not only led to higher expectations, but also to a more hectic schedule.
Harrington the golfer was considered a good player and likeable person, but Harrington the major winner was in a bit more demand.
It brings a certain level of expectation and there's no question you probably try a little bit harder when you're on the course

"Last year for the six months up to Christmas, it was incredibly busy," he said.
"A lot of things to be done, a lot of extra pressures and stresses outside the game.
"I think on the golf course, it brings a certain level of expectation and there's no question you probably try a little bit harder when you're on the course."
Harrington tied for fifth at the Masters and is coming off a tie for fourth at the St Jude Championship last week.
He has been able to get his game back in order as the excitement around his major victory has died down with the start of a new season.
"It's easier to focus on going forward when you are in a new year.
"You put it to the back of your mind. I played the last two weeks, and I've been getting into my focus."
