Woosnam after his recent win at the Polish Seniors Open

Former Masters champion and Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam has confirmed his entry into next week's Senior Irish Open at Ballyliffin.

Woosnam will join another major winner Sandy Lyle plus the likes of Costantino Rocca, Carl Mason, Sam Torrance, Des Smyth and Eamonn Darcy in the field.

The Welshman claimed his first European Senior Tour victory in Poland earlier this month.

The Senior Irish Open takes place at the Donegal course from 20/22 June.

Woosnam's victory in Poland was his first strokeplay win for more than 10 years.

The Welshman shot a final round of 63 to edge out Spain's Domingo Hospital by a single stroke.
