Weekley takes a one-shot lead into the second round in Tennessee

Boo Weekley held a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the Stanford St Jude Championship in Tennessee.

Weekley fired a five-under-par 65 at TPC Southwind, holing six birdies, to lead by one from Tommy Armour.

Vijay Singh is a shot further back in third in the final PGA Tour event before next week's US Open.

A group of seven players were tied for fourth - including Davis Love, Sergio Garcia, Justin Leonard and Stuart Appleby.

Defending champion Woody Austin struggled to a one-over 71, managing just two birdies against a double bogey on the par-three 14th hole and a bogey on number 17.
