My biggest event yet - Streeter

Golf

Lincolnshire golfer Paul Streeter makes his first appearance in the PGA Championship at Wentworth on Thursday.

Streeter, who plays at Blankney golf club, qualified for the European Tour's flagship event after winning the PGA play-off tournament.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "If I can shoot under par every round then I'll be happy.

"I had a European tour card in 2001, but this is the biggest event I've played in."

The 41-year-old tees off in his first round at 1420 BST alongside Scotland's Alastair Forsyth and Markus Brier of Austria.

He said: "I know them both from the European Tour. So that will help to calm my nerves, I'm sure."

But he insists his preparations before each round of the tournament, which is second only to the Open in Britain, will not be drastically different to his warm-up at Blankney.

"I'll probably hit golf balls for a little longer than the usual 10 minutes - I'll have an hour's practice to get everything prepared, but apart from that you try to keep the same routine really."
