Graeme McDowell was delighted with his opening round of 68 |
Graeme McDowell made an impressive start at the Ballintine's Championship in South Korea with a four-under-par 68 in Thursday's first round. The Portrush player is one shot behind leader Mikko Ilonen of Finland after his round which included six birdies.
Dubliner Paul McGinley is also four under but Holywood teenager Rory McIlroy slumped to a 76.
Padraig Harrington and Damien McGrane both opened with a 71 while Gary Murphy is four over.
McDowell is happy with both the golf course and his form.
"I'm loving the greens, I like the lay-out and the course is fabulous," he said.
"You can give it a lash off the tee and it was nice to make a few putts.
"I'me very happy with my form but I just have to stay patient and not dip for the line too early in the week.
"I just have to keep doing what I'm doing and let the results come."
