McGinley (left) and Howell (right) have slid down the rankings recently |
Ryder Cup stars Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley and David Howell have been included in the European team to face Asia in the Royal Trophy next month. Captain Seve Ballesteros named the trio and Robert Karlsson as his picks in the team for the Ryder Cup-style tournament in Bangkok from 11-13 January.
Graeme Storm, Niclas Fasth, Gregory Havret, Raphael Jacquelin and Anders Hansen make up the rest of the side.
Asia's team will be captained for the second time by Japan's "Joe" Ozaki.
Clarke, Howell and McGinley will all hope to start 2008 on a high note after suffering disappointing years.
Howell was once a member of the world's top 10 but is currently 165th in the rankings.
McGinley and Clarke have also suffered alarming slides down the world standings, to 207th and 225th place respectively.
