England's Oliver Wilson took a one-shot lead at the South African Open with a five-under-par 67 in the third round.

Wilson holed five birdies to finish with a four-under total of 212, with day two leader James Kingston one shot adrift at three under.

"My short game's been really solid this week," said Wilson.

Veteran Australian Greg Norman had to settle for a level-par 72 for 10th place on one-over, with Darren Clarke a further two shots back after a 74.

Wilson continued his consistent form from the previous two days, carding a bogey-free round in windy conditions at the Pearl Valley Golf Estates.

"I'm very happy with my round. I am actually quite pleased with how the week's going on, it's getting a little better each day and hopefully it carries on like that," said the 27-year-old from Mansfield.

I feel I can be a little more aggressive and there is really a lot to play for

"Tomorrow, it's just me against me. Hopefully my swing will get a little bit better.

"I've just got to do the same again and not put too much pressure on myself and just go and play."

Kingston's hopes of maintaining his overnight lead were dented when he double-bogeyed the 17th after finding water with his approach shot.

But the 42-year-old is confident he will be in the hunt for the 717,806 prize money on Sunday.

"I'm chasing and I already feel comfortable starting from behind," he said.

"I played nice and solid today after a not so good start. I feel I can be a little more aggressive and there is really a lot to play for."

Over 20 players carded under par rounds including South Africa's Garth Mulroy, who set a new course record thanks to a brilliant round of 64 to move into third place.

Two-time winner Retief Goosen carded a two-under par 70 to leave him two over for the competition, while Northern Ireland's Clarke was hindered by two late bogeys and is one shot adrift of Goosen.

Defending champion Ernie Els had a round to forget, finishing the day with a five over 77 with an overall score of eight over.
