Graeme McDowell shot an opening three-under-par 67 at the UBS Hong Kong Open which left him four shots behind clubhouse leader KJ Choi. McDowell's round included five birdies and two bogeys.
Rory McIlroy looked on course for a low score when he went to the turn in 30 but a double bogey and two further dropped shots saw him signing for a 69.
Gary Murphy fired a 66, two better than Paul McGinley while Damien McGrane joined McIlroy on 69.
