England's Oliver Wilson fired a stunning 66 to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the Johnnie Walker Classic in Phuket, Thailand.
Wilson lies on 10 under for the tournament, one ahead of South Africa's Anton Haig, after a round containing three birdies and two eagles.
Retief Goosen is two off the lead after a fine finish to his round while Colin Montgomerie's 70 puts him five under.
Ernie Els added a 70 to his opening 73 and is struggling on one under.
Wilson, who hails from Mansfield, started slowly with just two birdies on the front nine but improved dramatically after the turn.
He eagled both the 544-yard 11th and the 586-yard 15th, carding another birdie at the short 14th although a bogey five at the last pegged him back.
"It's nice to be leading the tournament," said the 26-year-old.
"I've just been working on a few mental things this week trying to stay relaxed and enjoy it and it seems to work.
"So if I can keep doing that, you never know, and you never know what will happen on the weekend."
Haig carded a blistering eight-under 64, a tournament low, with the help of seven birdies and an eagle.
Goosen recovered after dropping a shot at the first and after birdies at the 6th, 8th and 11th, the South African claimed two shots in the final three holes.
Montgomerie had six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey five on a mixed day but remains in contention.
However, English duo Paul Casey (two over) and Nick Dougherty (five over) both missed the cut after rounds of 75 and 81 respectively.
And Scotland's Steven Gallacher, who began the day tied for second, shot a 76 to drop to two over and out of the tournament.
