Ireland have won the European Amateur Team Championship after beating France 4.5-2.5 in the final in Scotland. It was all-square after the foursomes - Rory McIlroy and Jonathan Caldwell lost 5&4 but Shane Lowry and Richard Kilpatrick won by two holes.
Caldwell, Lowry and Kilpatrick won their singles games while Simon Ward chipped in with a half.
Holywood teenager Rory McIlroy was surprisingly beaten, his 3&2 defeat giving France their only singles win.
