-8 T Immelman (SA), A Scott (Aus)
-7 JB Holmes, W MacKenzie
-6 T Matteson
-5 L Donald (GB)

Vijay Singh is on course for victory in the Mercedes-Benz Championship in Hawaii after stretching his lead to three shots after the third round.

Singh's three-under-par round of 70 put him on 11 under, three clear of Adam Scott, who was left ruing a slow start to the tournament, and Trevor Immelman.

American duo Will MacKenzie and JB Holmes share fourth place, a further shot behind on seven under.

Briton Luke Donald lies six shots off the pace after a third round of 71.

If Singh holds on to win, it would be his 18th tournament win since turning 40, breaking Sam Snead's record.

606 DEBATE: Will Singh take the title?

Immelman says he needs to produce a final round of around 65 to have any hope of catching the Fijian.

But that is a tall order as the blustery conditions have prevented anyone scoring under 68 so far in the tournament.

"I'll need a special day" he said. "You don't expect him to give it away. But I've come from three behind before and won. All I can do is play my best golf and see what happens."

Stuart Appleby's hopes of a fourth successive win in the tournament lie in tatters after a third round of 72 left him nine shots behind Singh on one under.
