Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk have given their full backing to Paul Azinger who was named this week as the United States captain for the 2008 Ryder Cup. "Paul will be fun, Paul will be great," said world number one Woods.
"He's fiery and he loves it and I think he will do very well as the captain. We'll have a lot of fun with him."
Furyk added: "Paul is a wonderful choice. I think he'll bring a pretty feisty attitude to a team that needs it right now."
Azinger, 46, fought off Fred Couples and Corey Pavin to win the honour of skippering the 2008 team to play at Valhalla.
The former Ryder Cup star will be hoping to bring an end to the run of three straight defeats for the US, the last coming this year when Tom Lehman's men went down 18�-9� to Europe.

Azinger will have four wildcards picks as opposed to two and Woods welcomes the change in the selection procedure.
"In an ideal world, if you want your best team you have 12 picks," said the 30-year-old.
"But that's not fair. The more picks you can get, the better it is."
Azinger, the 1993 USPGA winner, will pit his wits against old rival Nick Faldo who will captain Europe in 2008.
