Annika Sorenstam kept alive her hopes of an LPGA Tour record sixth successive Mizuno Classic title by ending the second round two shots off the lead. Sorenstam fired a six-under-par 66, for a halfway total of 137 to put her joint third with six others, including overnight leader Rachel Hetherington. Momoko Ueda moved into the lead after a 64 which put her a shot clear of Karrie Webb after her 67. Sorenstam won her first Mizuno title at Musashigaoka and the others at Seta.
