South Korea's KJ Choi holed a 10ft birdie putt at the last to maintain the one-shot lead he held at the halfway stage of the Chrysler Championship.
Choi carded a one-under 70 in the third round to improve his score to nine under par at Palm Harbor, Florida.
World number seven Ernie Els and American duo Brian Gay and Paul Goydos are tied in second at eight under.
Tour rookie Troy Matteson, who has finished first and second in his last two starts, is one shot further back.
