Bradley Dredge will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
The Welshman carded a third-round 65 at Crans-sur-Sierre for a 13-under-par as he chases a second European Tour title.
German Marcel Siem (67) is second on 11 under. England's Oliver Wilson also shot a 67 to be two shots further back.
Defending champion and part-time Crans resident Sergio Garcia is another stroke back on eight under after six birdies and three bogeys in his 68.
"If I can shoot around four or five under I will still have a chance," said Garcia, the world number eight.
"The course is playing very difficult. It's a good test and almost right on the limit of being too firm.
"The margin of error is so thin. I thought my shot on 17 was perfect but it wasn't even on the green! It's that cruel but you just have to get on with it."
Dredge, 33, has had numerous chances to add to that solitary victory in
Madeira in 2003 and admitted: "I've got myself in position a lot over the last couple of years and haven't managed to win yet.
"I just keep trying to get up there and you learn something each time. I try different things and hopefully I will find something which just clicks for me.
"I feel I am really playing well and this is the type of course where you
have to be patient. You have to accept it and get on with it."
