McIlroy helps team to trophy win
Rory McIlroy
McIlroy's wins this year include the West of Ireland and Irish Close
Rory McIlroy ended the St Andrews Trophy with an unbeaten record as Great Britain and Ireland beat the continent of Europe 15-9 in the Czech Republic.

The 17-year-old from Holywood teamed up with England's Ollie Fisher to win their Saturday foursomes one up.

McIlroy then came from three down with five to play to halve his singles match with Julien Guerrier of France.

The European Amateur champion finished the two-day tournament with three points out of four.

McIlroy managed to birdie four out of the last five holes to clinch his halve against Guerrier, who won this year's British Amateur Championship.

The local teenager is in action next week for Ireland in the Home International Championships.
