A popular figure on the US Tour, Tom Lehman became something of a pantomime baddie for Europeans after his part in the scenes that marred the 1999 event. But Lehman has served his time in the doghouse and is clearly the best man to lead the American team at the K Club. Lehman, in fact, very nearly played his way into the side - if he had beaten Dean Wilson in a play-off in Colorado last month a place in the team was his. Unbeaten in three Ryder Cup singles matches, Lehman won the 1996 Open. As well as that single major triumph, the devout Christian has won four other PGA Tour titles and finished runner-up at the 1994 Masters and 1996 US Open. Did you know?
