Senden inspects the cup at the 13th |
Australian John Senden recorded the second hole-in-one of the Championship with an ace at the 13th in round three. He said of his six-iron: "It was exciting and will jog my memory when I'm thinking about this place.
"I didn't see it go in as there was a hill just short of the green. All I saw was the top half of the flag."
The 35-year-old had an eventful day, with a triple bogey at the 11th and a double bogey at the last dropping him back to level-par.
South African Richard Sterne produced the first ace of the week at the par-three 15th in Friday's second round.
There was some dramatic scoring of a different kind at the 16th, when Sweden's Henrik Stenson ran up a quadruple-bogey nine, the highest score at any hole this week.
"I was in the trap up against the lip and it took me three whacks to get it out of there," the Ryder Cup hopeful lamented.
"Then I hit my four-iron fifth shot into the left hand trap and that left me a long bunker shot.
"To cap it all I three-putted for a nice little nine." Stenson then took a double bogey at the next but birdied the last for a 74.
