Woods birdied two of his last seven to get back into contention |
Tiger Woods is eyeing a weekend surge to put him in contention for a fifth Masters win and 11th major title. Woods fired a 71 on Friday to stand on 143, five strokes behind leader Chad Campbell, but the American star remains satisfied with his position.
"I'm in contention so it's a good spot I guess," he said. "I'm only five back.
"And with the forecast, if it's as unpredictable as it has been all week, we'll see how it is on Saturday when we are all out there about the same time."

Woods, who carded 72 on Thursday, endured another mixed bag in the second round with three bogeys and four birdies - the last at the par-five 15th to grab a share of 10th.
But the world number one was satisfied with his performance in difficult conditions in Augusta.
"I'm in good shape," he added. "It was really tough - windy, swirly, a good shot could end up in a bad spot.
"You had to accept it and move on."
Woods opened with a bogey but got back to level par at the third as he went out in 36.
On the way back in he bogeyed the tough 11th before birdies at the par-five 13th and 15th kept him in touch with the leaders.
On Saturday, Woods will head off with world number three Retief Goosen in the eighth to last pairing, a full one hour and 20 minutes before the final pairing of Campbell and Rocco Mediate.
And with thunderstorms forecast for the late afternoon that could be significant.
