Jimenez will defend Wales crown
Miguel Angel Jimenez celebrates his 2005 Wales Open title
Jimenez will be looking for crucial Ryder Cup points
Miguel Angel Jimenez has announced he will defend his Wales Open title at the Celtic Manor, Newport (1-4 June).

The Spaniard won by four strokes last year on the Roman Road course, which will again host the event as work continues on the 2010 Ryder Cup course.

Said Jimenez: "This year my aim is to put in another strong challenge on what is a tough golf course."

Jimenez, who has two top five finishes this season, is currently 14th on the European Ryder Cup points list.

Said Jon Phelps, director of The Celtic Manor Wales Open: "To welcome back a champion of the stature of Miguel Angel Jimenez is a great privilege."

Promising young Walker Cup player Ollie Fisher was recently announced as the first name on the drawsheet.

He was given a sponsor's invite following a personal request from mentor Nick Faldo.
