England's Simon Dyson and Ireland's David Higgins are two of the four players sharing the lead after the opening round of the Indonesia Open.

The duo carded first-round 66s to join Taiwan's Ter-Chang Wang and Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand on six under.

The first day was notable for the fact that no-one was able to break away and five players share second place, just a shot behind at five under.

Stephen Dodd, David Griffiths and David Carter are in a group on three under.

Higgins was part of a group that took an early lead with the help of five birdies in his opening eight holes.

And two further birdies on the back nine put him clear of the pack until afternoon starters Dyson, Wang and Jaidee all drew level.

Wang and Jaidee both had chances to take the lead on seven under but bogeyed the last to join Higgins.

Dyson started his day with an eagle three at the first and added four further birdies for a flawless round.

"I struck some good putts," he said. "It always helps to roll in a nice 20-footer for eagle at the first to get things rolling.

"All of sudden you drop another one in and the holes seems to get bigger and bigger. It felt good out there, especially with no bogeys."

Welshman Dodd, who was concerned by the humidity in Jakarta before the tournament, is three shots off the lead after a 69 but was unhappy with his performance.

"I just played awful from start to finish," he said.

"It was a battling round and not at all pretty. I am not going to challenge playing the way I am."

Defending champion Thaworn Wiratchant had four bogeys and four birdies for a level-par 72.

Scotland's Andrew Coltart is way off the pace after a 76 which included a double bogey and six bogeys.
