 | FIRST ROUND SCORES GB & Ire unless stated +1 Loren Roberts (US) +2 Des Smyth, Frank Conner (US), Craig Stadler (US), Derrick Cooper, Ray Stewart (Can), Terry Gale (Aus), Giuseppe Cali (Ita) |
American Loren Roberts led the way on a difficult day at Royal Aberdeen to lead the Senior British Open Championship after the first round. Roberts finished a day of gusty winds at one over par, with seven players tied for second as no player broke par.
Former Major winners Greg Norman, Tom Watson and Tom Kite finished on a combined total of 21 over par.
Meanwhile, England's Nick Job and Wales' Tony Price both carded holes-in-one at the third hole.
Both players earn 223 bottles of wine for their feat - a bottle for each yard of the hole.

Tied for second place are Ireland's Des Smyth, Americans Frank Conner and Craig Stadler, Derrick Cooper of England, Canada's Ray Stewart, Australian Terry Gale and Giuseppe Cali of Italy.
Smyth blew his chance to lead the field with a double-bogey six, which included three putts, at the last.
Norman started his first senior tournament with a five-over-par 76, while Watson shot four over and Kite could only struggle to a 12 over 83.
Twice Open champion Norman described the course as "fair but extremely difficult".
Scotland's Sam Torrance shot a six-over 77 and Mark James finished two shots off the lead.
"I made some three putts today, which I don't normally," said the 50-year-old Roberts.
"But all in all I made some good putts today. I really putted well. If you get the ball 25, 30 feet of the hole it's tough to get the ball high, it really is."
