World number one Tiger Woods produced a remarkable performance to seize a commanding four-shot lead after the second round of the Open Championship. Woods made five birdies in a faultless round of 67 to end the day on 11 under - four ahead of Colin Montgomerie.
The 2000 champion picked up shots on the third, fifth, ninth, 10th and 14th, making par on the rest.
The American, who was partnered by Jose Maria Olazabal and Robert Allenby, is hot favourite to win his second Open.
Woods, seeking his 10th major, picked up two birdies in the first five holes to move to eight under.
He added three more birdies and could have made in six in total but missed a five-footer at the infamous 17th Road Hole.
"Patience was the key today," Woods said. "I played a couple of bad shots but made key putts, didn't drop any shots and kept the momentum going.
"We have changed 15 or 18 things in my game. I just had to be patient, it was a lot of hard work but I knew what I was doing to make myself a better player."
