King will provide an experienced partnership with Beth Daniel |
The United States have named Betsy King as their captain for the Solheim Cup match against Europe in 2007. King played in the first five matches and will have the most Solheim Cup experience of any previous captain.
The US will defend the trophy at Halmstad, Sweden in September after winning the 2005 match at Crooked Stick, Indiana 15-12.
Beth Daniel, the oldest player in Solheim history last time at 48, will act as an assistant captain.
Europe will hope that history repeats itself when the event returns to Sweden from 14-16 September.
They secured their most decisive victory, an emphatic 17-11 success at Barseback Golf Club three years ago.
King, who boasts 34 victories and six major titles, was part of the American team that defeated Europe in Wales in 1996, their only success overseas since the Cup began in 1990.
"I look forward to the preparation and competition over the next two years," she said.
