Tiger Woods won his seventh tournament of the year after a play-off victory over Japan's Kaname Yokoo saw him retain the Dunlop Phoenix title.

Woods reached the fourth extra hole, the par five 18th, in two and two putts were enough for victory after Yokoo missed his 12-footer for birdie.

Woods had missed a chance to secure the title in regulation play after losing a one-shot lead on the final hole.

He drove into a bunker and made par for a 71 while Yokoo birdied for a 69.

Tied at eight under, the pair went into a play-off.

Woods drove into trees at the first extra hole, twisting his ankle in the process, and had to sink a 12-foot putt to stay in the hunt.

He limped through his remaining play-off holes, making birdie on each of them.

Jim Furyk, who was one shot behind Woods going into the last day, shot a final-round 73 to finish at six-under 274.

"It wasn't looking good after that first play-off," said Woods. "But I managed to squeak out a five and then Kaname just kept making birdie after birdie."

Woods said his ankle has been bothering him for about a month and that the cold weather in Japan made it worse.

"It made it hard getting to my left side," said Woods.

"I kept trying to drive from my left side like I always do but the injury wouldn't allow me to do it."

Woods is scheduled to play in the PGA Grand Slam in Hawaii this week but said he was not sure if he will be able to play because of his ankle.

"I hope I'll be able to play," said Woods. "I've got a couple days off but if I can't go, I can't go."
