England's Paul Casey shares the lead at the TCL Classic at Hainan Island in China, after an opening round of 64. Also on eight-under par are the Swedes Johan Edfors and Fredrik Andersson Hed, and Thailand's Chawalit Plaphol.
Casey's European Ryder Cup team-mate Colin Montgomerie is three shots back on five under par after a 67.
The Scot needs to finish in the top two to keep alive his hopes of playing in next week's Players' Championship, and the Masters next month.
Behind Casey on seven-under par is a group which includes Ireland's Paul McGinlay, England's Paul Broadhurst and the Scottish pair of Steven O'Hara and Ross Bain.
