Masters champion Phil Mickelson carded a second-round 66 to claim a two-shot lead at the halfway point of the Ford Championship in Florida.

Mickelson claimed three birdies either side of the turn to end up on 14 under, two strokes ahead of Billy Andrade.

Jose Maria Olazabal is three off the pace after a 69 while Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods are on nine under.

First-round leader Brian Davis is also on nine under after adding a disappointing 71 to his opening 64.

"There are so many good players - I've got to keep pushing to make birdies if I want to stay (in the lead)," said Mickelson.

"I guarantee you some of those guys will shoot low on Saturday, so I have to come out firing."

Mickelson, who only hit half the fairways in his second round, has already won twice this season.

"I didn't necessarily hit the ball as well as Thursday, but I was able to salvage a lot of pars with my short game and that led to a bogey-free round,"

With the cut at three-under, several illustrious names missed out including Davis Love III, Adam Scott and Justin Leonard.
