Sweden's Maria Hjorth hit a seven-under par 64 to grab a three-stroke lead after the opening round of the LPGA John Q Hammons Hotel Classic. Hjorth fired an eagle and seven birdies to top the leaderboard at the tournament at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. France's Karine Icher and Australian Michelle Ellis share second on 67. World number one Annika Sorenstam of Sweden is one behind, American teenager Paula Creamer is on 69 and Laura Davies led the British challenge with a 70.
