Northern Ireland golfer Darren Clarke and his wife Heather |
Northern Ireland golfer Darren Clarke says his wife Heather's treatment for cancer is going well. Clarke, due to play in California next week after taking a two-month break to care for his wife, said she wanted him to get playing again.
"Heather had her fourth bout of chemotherapy on Tuesday," said Clarke.
"We met with the oncologist beforehand and he told us that the results have been dramatic and everything is working in the right direction."
Clarke was speaking at the launch of the Daily Telegraph Dunlop British Masters at the Forest of Arden near Coventry.
The Ryder Cup star is to play in the Pebble Beach Pro-am from 10-13 February with manager Andrew "Chubby" Chandler as his partner.
He will be in America for three weeks, also playing the Nissan Open in Los Angeles and then the Accenture World Match Play Championship in San Diego.
That is the event in which he beat Tiger Woods in the 2000 final.
