Jordan and McGinley are long-standing friends |
Ireland's Paul McGinley will have former Jordan Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan as his caddie at this week's BMW International Open. Jordan is a close friend of McGinley, who is bidding to qualify for the World Match Play at Wentworth next month.
McGinley said: "The World Match Play is a tournament I've not played in and I am in a strong position to play.
"Eddie is used to dealing with drivers and egos and all that and he will be good for me in Munich."
McGinley is still kicking himself for three-putting from five feet at the 12th hole in the final round of the NEC Invitational last week and falling out of contention for one of golf's richest purses.
"This was the first time I had a chance of winning a major world event. I could have won and I was 98% of where I want to be," said McGinley, 39.
"I have only won three events on the European tour and it is not enough for the success I have had."
Also back from the US Tour and in action in Munich will be Denmark's Thomas Bjorn, Ireland's Padraig Harrington and England's Luke Donald.
Scores are expected to be low at the short 6,961 yard course, unless the torrents that caused flooding in other parts of southern Germany hit the area.
For the Europeans, however, Nord-Eichenried looks easy after some courses they have faced in the United States.
"It's nice to be somewhere again where you can make a lot of birdies," said Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez, bidding to become the first to defend the BMW International crown.
