 Fisher, 16, fired a second-round 76 at Merion |
English teenager Oliver Fisher had a nightmare finish to his second round at the US Amateur Championship in Philadelphia - but still progressed. Fisher, 16, hit double bogeys at the 17th and 18th to card a 76 and slip to six over - the score chosen as the cut.
Gary Wolstenhome is Britain's leading player, at three over after a 71, eight behind leader James Lepp of Canada.
Welshman Rhys Davies also made the cut thanks to a 72, but Scotland's Richard Ramsay just missed out after his 76.
The top 64 players after two strokeplay rounds go on to contest 18-hole knockout matchplay at Merion.
Ramsay's Walker Cup colleague Richard Dinwiddie of England also failed to progress - his 76 leaving him at eight over.
Scotland's Lloyd Saltman, 19, tied with Fisher at level par after round one, slumped to a 79 to miss the cut.
Saltman, who won the low amateur prize at the Open in July, plummetted to nine over to miss the cut by two strokes.
England's Ben Taylor also bowed out with a second-round 78 at Philadelphia Country Club for 13 over, while Ireland's Sean McTernan followed an opening 83 with a 79 for 22-over-par.
