Mickelson has become a regular visitor to Loch Lomond |
World number four Phil Mickelson has confirmed he will play in next month's Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond for the third year running. Australia's Adam Scott will also appear, making up for the absence of US Open winner Michael Campbell, who withdrew to concentrate on The Open.
"I always look forward to going back to Loch Lomond. It's really an enjoyable event," said Mickelson.
The duo's participation means eight of the world's top 20 will be taking part.
Angel Cabrera, Darren Clarke, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Miguel Angel Jimnez are the other top-20 players who will be challenging defending champion Thomas Levet.
Campbell, who tops the European Tour Order of Merit and is ranked 23 in the world, was runner-up to Levet last year.
But he seems more interested in avoiding a repeat of his 1995 Open performance at St Andrews.
He led going into the final round but slumped badly.
He said: "I'm playing at the European Open next week and then taking the one after that off to play links golf and prepare myself for St Andrews."
