Welsh golfer Philip Price's chances of playing in the US Open have improved after Darren Clarke's withdrawal. Clarke has pulled out of next week's event to be with his wife, Heather, who is in hospital after cancer treatment.
"For the overall tournament I was third reserve, but with Darren Clarke's withdrawl that puts me second reserve on that list," Price said.
If any of the 19 players who finished ahead of Price in their qualifying pool pull out, he will also replace them.
"On the course that I was on there were 19 places available for qualification and I finished 20th," Price added.
"So if any of those 19 guys pull out then I'll be first in on that list."
