Stephen Dodd remains on course for a first European Tour victory at the China Open despite a triple-bogey seven during his third round.

Dodd, three shots ahead overnight, will hold the same advantage going into the final round, with Danish duo Thomas Bjorn and Soren Hansen in pursuit.

The 38-year-old Welshman carded a seven on the seventh hole after his eight-iron hit a bank and went into water.

But he covered the last 11 holes in three under to post a 70.

Dodd's earlier mishap had briefly seen Hansen - who drained three straight birdies - take the lead.

But the Dane promptly bogeyed the next two holes while Dodd regained his form and got up and down from sand on the last to stay in control.

"I played OK, wasn't driving well, but the rest of the game was solid," said Dodd.

"A lead is a lead."

Pre-tournament favourite Bjorn will also challenge on the final day after posting a 68, featuring a hat-trick of birdies from the 14th.

Hansen, playing with a hairline fracture of the little finger on his left hand suffered playing basketball nine days ago, matched Dodd's 70.

Another Welshman, Bradley Dredge, is a further shot back on four under.
