Tiger Woods closed in on his first win in Japan after a third-round 65 stretched his lead to 10 shots in the Dunlop Phoenix event in Miyazaki.

The world number two reached 13 under to lead Japan's Ryoken Kawagishi and Joe Ozaki, and Sweden's Daniel Chopra.

Australian Robert Allenby was one under with Dane Thomas Bjorn three over.

Woods has played three times in Japan, finishing 15th in the 1998 Casio Open and losing in a play-off in the 2001 World Cup with David Duval.

The American began the day with a three-stroke lead over Japan's Kaname Yokoo, who slipped back to two under.
