The World Golf Championships will be held in Britain for the first time in 2006, when The Grove will stage the American Express event. A week after the Ryder Cup is played in Ireland for the first time, The Grove, former home of the Earl of Clarendon, hosts the WGC beginning 28 September.
The Hertfordshire golf complex, which opened in 2003, was thought to have cost in excess of 100m to build.
It was designed by Kyle Phillips, who also built Kingsbarns in Scotland.
"The Grove has already received significant international acclaim in a very short space of time," said European Tour chief Ken Schofield.
"We look forward to a truly world class field assembling at this splendid setting in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside in two years time."
The Grove has quickly established itself as a leading golf resort, set in 300 acres of private ground with a five-star hotel and spa.
