Riley v Poulter (Europe won 3&2) European rookie Ian Poulter collected his first Ryder Cup point as he saw off fellow debutant Chris Riley 3&2. The Cup had already been retained but Poulter was determined to go out on a high after losing his only other match with Darren Clarke on Saturday.
Poulter, in the third last singles match, gave the holders a psychological lift by taking the first hole at a time when the USA were thriving elsewhere.
He always led and won the 15th with a birdie before sealing victory on 16.
Poulter said: "I really wanted to come out, focus on my game and put a point on the board for the team."
He praised Europe's team spirit and captain Bernhard Langer.
"We've got a great bunch of guys out here and Bernhard's been absolutely awesome this week," added the Englishman.
