Ryder Cup stalwart Miguel Angel Jimenez carded a 66 to take the lead at 10-under after round two of the BMW Open. Jimenez, assured a spot this year, had three birdies on each nine to lead by one from David Lynn, and Retief Goosen who had an eagle but also three bogeys.
Brian Davis, needing to finish fourth to make the team, missed the cut after taking a six at the final hole.
Colin Montgomerie, seeking a wildcard, recovered from three dropped shots in two holes to post a 70 for seven-under.
Luke Donald, another tipped to earn a wildcard from Bernhard Langer, could only manage two birdies in a round of 71 that leaves him five adrift at five-under.
Steady German Alex Cejka led by two strokes at one stage at eight-under, after a magnificent five-wood to three feet created an eagle at the 18th, his ninth.
But then came three bogeys in four holes and he was glad to finish with a birdie to get back to six-under.

Of the players currently in qualifying places, Paul Casey is faring best, a second successive 69 leaving him at six-under.
Ian Poulter recovered well from his opening 73 with two birdies and an eagle in three holes in his 66 to lifts him to a share of 21st place at five-under.
And Paul McGinley, holding the final automatic spot, had three successive birdies in a 68 for a six-under halfway total.
Of the challengers, Jean-Francois Remesy, needing seventh at worst, saw his hopes end as three bogeys in a 71 saw him miss the cut.
Swede Joakim Haeggman, requiring a minimum fifth place, added a 70 to his opening 69 and is in the group outside the top-20 at five-under.
And Fredrik Jacobson, also needing to be fifth, chipped in for an eagle at the 18th, his ninth, and carded five birdies for a superb round of 65 that leaves him in a share of fourth spot with Markus Brier.
