Thomas Bjorn moved two shots clear of England's David Lynn after his second round of the Johnnie Walker Classic in Thailand. The Dane carded a 68 to reach 12 under as Lynn climbed the leaderboard with a 66 in the heat of Bangkok.
England's Nick Faldo moved to nine under after a two-under 70 with David Smail, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Simon Yates on eight under.
Defending champion Ernie Els fired a 67 to reach seven under.
Bjorn, starting at the 10th, picked up four birdies and dropped just one shot on his way out before picking up further birdies at his 10th and 12th holes.
But he slipped up at the long seventh hole, his 16th, when he missed the green and took three to get down, blaming playing partner Colin Montgomerie for putting him off his putt.
A birdie at the last kept Bjorn in front of the 30-year-old Lynn, who charged through the field with six birdies.
Faldo slipped a place to third after failing to match his opening 65. The six-time major winner hit just three birdies and a bogey in his 70.
England's Simon Dyson, the former Asian Tour champion, shot 66 to join the logjam of players on seven under, while countryman Ian Poulter edged to six under with Peter Lawrie.
Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell went round in 68 to go five under alongside and Australian Adam Scott.
Montgomerie's 67 took him to four under with England's Justin Rose and USPGA champion Shaun Micheel.
Open champion Ben Curtis of America was a further shot back, with the cut projected to come at one under.
