Tiger Woods says he is monitoring events in the Middle East |
World number one Tiger Woods has admitted he may pull out of next week's European Tour event in Dubai because of the political instability in the Middle East. Woods, who lost to Denmark's Thomas Bjorn in 2001, the last time he competed in Dubai, agreed to play the event late last year.
But with the possibility of conflict in the region, he said he had had to take another look at his decision.
"Any time you go overseas and there's war not too far away, it is a danger," Woods said on Tuesday after his final tune-up for the Match Play Championship.
Woods added that he was still unsure of whether he would play in Dubai because of the information he was receiving from the US government.
"It keeps changing," Woods said. "They're giving the politically correct answers to our questions, which is pretty much nondescript."
He has until 1200 GMT on Sunday to withdraw from Dubai without receiving a fine under European Tour rules.
