Price edges closer to title
Zimbabwe's Nick Price
Nick Price birdied on the final two holes
  Third round scores

Zimbabwe's Nick Price, seeking his first PGA Tour win since 1998, finished Saturday's third round in the Colonial Championship in Texas with a five stroke lead.

The 45-year-old from Zimbabwe finished with back-to-back birdies to cap a four-under par 66 round.

New Zealand's Phil Tataurangi, Kenny Perry and Steve Flesch are tied for second on five under.

A shot back is a quartet that includes 1998 champion Tom Watson, David Toms and second-round co-leader Esteban Toledo.

Price shared the lead with Mexico's Esteban Toledo after the rain-delayed second round was completed on Saturday morning.

  Second round summary

Price birdied the par-four first hole to claim the outright lead and despite back-to-back bogeys at 15 and 16, got back the strokes with birdies on the final two holes.

Price said: "I drove the ball so well today.

"I had a lot of short irons in and felt that I could spin the ball and be aggressive with my iron game. Then I putted as solidly as I have for a long time.

"I don't know how many opportunities I'm going to have left to win on the Tour, and that's in the back of my mind.

"But the way I'm playing, I've got a lot more confidence in my ability than in the last three or four months."

David Toms, the defending PGA champion, shot the lowest round of the day, a six-under 64 that featured eight birdies, including four consecutive birdies on the back nine.
