Rose wins monthly award
Justin Rose celebrates his maiden tour victory in Johannesburg
Rose endured a long wait for his maiden title
England's Justin Rose has been named the Asprey & Garrard Golfer of the Month for January.

Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal won the February award.

Rose, who also won the award exactly 12 months ago, was honoured after his maiden European Tour victory in the Dunhill championship.

  Rose's blooming career
1980: Born 30 July in South Africa
1985: Moves to England
1998: Joint fourth in the Open, turns pro but misses seven cuts in a row
1999: 197th in European Order of Merit, wins Tour card at qualifying school
2000: 122nd in European Order of Merit
2001: 33rd in European Order of Merit
2002: First Tour title

Victory in Johannesburg ended a long wait for Rose since turning professional at the age of 17.

The 21-year-old Englishman then added a second title in three weeks when he won the Nashua Masters at the Wild Coast Sun Country Club.

"I am delighted with this news and it is far more rewarding to accept it for winning the Dunhill championship," said Rose.

Olazabal was recognised for his triumph in the Accenture Match Play and the Buick Invitational.

Both men earn 1,000 in charity donations for the Golf Foundation.
