1515: CYCLING - The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it will hear a doping case against 1997 Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich next month. The German, who retired in 2007, served a six-month doping ban in 2002 and, for a second offence, faces a life ban from holding any position in cycling.

1509: F1 - Karun Chandhok has told BBC Radio Norfolk replacing Jarno Trulli in the Team Lotus car for the German Grand Prix is not ideal, but insists the pair have a good relationship. As part of his future development with the team Chandhok will step in for the veteran Italian at the Nurburgring.

1503: CYCLING - Alberto Contador continues to lead Andy Schleck as the Tour de France nears the summit of the Col du Galibier for a second successive day. Just Alpe d'Huez left to climb in the final 65km of today's stage. Thomas Voeckler is riding on his own, about one minute behind the leading duo. 1434: F1 - Second practice for Sunday's German Grand Prix has just finished at the Nurburgring - the best time went to Red Bull's Mark Webber, who posted a time of one minute 31.711 seconds. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was second, about a sixth of a second slower, with Sebastian Vettel in third. McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were seventh and 11th respectively.

1424: CYCLING - Alberto Contador has blown the quartet apart. Cadel Evans dropped off and then suffered mechanical problems, necessitating a bike change, while the pace was just too quick for Thomas Voeckler. Andy Schleck is staying in Contador's wheel. In an unusual move, French rider Jerome Pineau of the Quick Step team is helping his countryman Voeckler, of Team Europcar, up the Col du Telegraph.

The Spaniard's time of one minute, 31.981 seconds was three-tenths of a second faster than Red Bull's Mark Webber, with world championship leader Sebastian Vettel in third and the McLarens of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in fifth and sixth respectively. Second practice is at 1300 BST.

0816: OLYMPICS - South African 'Blade Runner' Oscar Pistorius will be made welcome at next year's Olympics, according to London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe. "He is eligible [for the Olympics] and I am guessing he will want to compete. We will welcome him," said Coe.

0805: SWIMMING - Cassie Patten's World Championships have come to a premature end after a long-standing shoulder injury forced her to quit during the 5km open water race in Shanghai. The 24-year-old aggravated the injury during the 10km race on Tuesday, where she finished 21st, and pulled out of the shorter swim after just 1400m.
