Jersey's Roy Smith has won the Class 3C world title twice |
The organisers of the World Class 3C powerboat championships in Guernsey say they expect a top field to compete. September's event will see the best two-litre powerboat crews race around a course off the St Peter Port coast. "The 2004 world champions and the current European champions are racing so it looks like a high quality field," said organiser Edward Fattorini. Jersey racer Roy Smith, who won the title in 2002 and 2003, is expected to race this year. "To begin with the entries were trickling in very slowly, but suddenly in the last week we've had some very high entries coming in, including the two Italians Di Tomasso and Diego Testo," Fattorini, who is chairman of the Guernsey Powerboat Association, told BBC Guernsey.
