"Never say Dy Gunners fired by Cole," says its main report, though its back page headline "Ash, bang, wallop" works better.

Arsenal's vital triumph is edged out on the back page of the Daily Mail, which says Manchester United are set to spend again.

The paper claims boss Sir Alex Ferguson has the go-ahead to splash up to 20m on a new striker when the transfer window opens in January.

Fergie, seldom out of the headlines, also features in several papers as a result of his pushing the limits of what can and can't be said to the media.

The Times reports that both Fifa and the FA are keen to curb the United boss and his outspoken ways.

Ferguson's Manchester City counterpart Kevin Keegan has also been speaking out - on an unusual drug-testing dilemma.

The Guardian and other papers report how City midfielder Christian Nagouai, a devout Muslim, had to break his Ramadan fast by drinking water to supply a urine sample to FA drug-testers.

No such controversy as the rugby press celebrate the impending record 111th Test appearance of England prop Jason Leonard against Wales on Sunday.

You can tell he belongs to rugger's old school by his revelation in The Sun: "It's the run down to my local boozer that's kept me fit."
